    Engine Coolant Thermostat Valve

    ? This cooling system valve is a small but critical part that controls engine temperature. It is needed to help the engine warm up fast after start, then keep the temperature steady during driving. When the engine runs at the right heat range, fuel burns cleaner, heater works better, and wear is reduced.

    How It Works

    Inside the unit is a heat-sensitive wax element. As coolant temperature rises, the wax expands and pushes the valve open. This lets hot coolant flow to the radiator for cooling. When temperature drops, the valve closes again, keeping coolant in the engine so it can maintain proper operating heat.

    What Happens If It’s Broken

    If the valve sticks closed, coolant can’t reach the radiator, causing overheating, hard boiling, and possible head gasket or engine damage. If it sticks open, the engine may run too cool, leading to weak cabin heat, higher fuel use, rough running, and faster sludge buildup.
