Transmission Input Speed Pickup for Smooth, Smart Shifts

Why you need it

This OE-grade gearbox speed pickup feeds the transmission computer real-time input shaft RPM. The module uses it to time upshifts/downshifts, set hydraulic pressure, and control torque converter lock-up. Accurate data brings silky shifts, stable idle takeoff, and better fuel economy.

How it works βš™οΈ

Inside is a Hall-effect element that β€œreads” a toothed wheel on the turbine/input shaft. It converts rotation into a clean square-wave signal the TCM/ECM understands. A molded body, heat-resistant epoxy, and an oil-tight O-ring keep fluid in and contaminants out. Plug-and-play 2–3 pin connector; typically no coding needed after install.

What if it’s faulty ❗

Expect harsh or delayed shifts, flare between gears, weak acceleration, higher fuel use, and a check engine light (common P07xx codes). The transmission may enter limp mode, disable lock-up, and raise line pressure, accelerating clutch wear if ignored.

Tech tips

  • Check harness routing and clean corroded pins.
  • Wipe the bore; lightly oil the new O-ring before fitting.
  • Tighten the hold-down to about 8–10 Nm and clear codes.
  • Road test; compare input vs. output speeds with a scan tool.
