Engine Valve Cover Sealing Gasket οΈ
This sealing gasket sits between the cylinder head and the valve (head) cover. Its job is simple but critical: keep engine oil inside the top of the engine while allowing the cover to be removed for service. Without a tight seal, oil will escape, dirt can enter, and the engine bay quickly becomes messy and unsafe.
Why This Part Is Needed β
The valve train area is constantly splashed with oil. The gasket compresses to fill tiny surface gaps caused by heat cycles and vibrations, preventing leaks even under high temperature.
How It Works βοΈ
Made from heat- and oil-resistant rubber compound, it seals along the cover perimeter and around key points, maintaining steady crankcase sealing while the engine expands and contracts.
If It Breaks or Hardens
You may notice oil smell, smoke from oil dripping onto hot parts, wet spark plug wells, misfires, low oil level, and premature gasket debris entering the engine. Ignoring it can lead to poor running and expensive cleanup.
