Lower Damper Bushing for Mazda Suspension
This suspension bushing sits at the lower mounting point of the shock absorber (damper). Its job is simple but critical: it cushions the connection between the damper and the control arm/knuckle so the suspension can move smoothly without harsh metal-to-metal contact ?.
Why this bushing is needed
Every bump, brake, and corner sends load through the damper. The bushing absorbs vibration and small impacts, keeps the damper aligned, and helps maintain stable handling. A healthy bushing also reduces cabin noise and protects the damper mount from ovaling over time.
How it works
The rubber (or elastomer) core flexes while the sleeve holds the bolt tight. This controlled flex allows suspension travel while isolating road shock. It also prevents unwanted play that can change wheel angle under load.
What happens if itβs worn or broken
A failed bushing can cause clunks, squeaks, steering shake, and uneven tire wear. You may feel a loose rear/front end, longer braking stability issues, and faster damper wear. In severe cases, the damper can shift in its mount, stressing bolts and brackets β οΈ.
