Radiator Pressure Cap for Mazda Cooling System ๐ง
This small cap is a big deal in your Mazdaโs cooling system. It seals the radiator/filler neck and keeps the system under the correct pressure, so coolant can handle higher temperatures without boiling. A healthy cap helps the engine stay stable in traffic, on highways, and during hot weather. โ
Why this part is needed
The cooling system must hold pressure to control boiling point and stop coolant loss. This cap also allows safe pressure release and draws coolant back from the overflow tank when the engine cools down.
How it works
Inside are spring-loaded valves and a rubber seal. When pressure rises above the rated limit, the valve opens to send excess coolant to the reservoir. When the engine cools, a return valve pulls coolant back, preventing air pockets and hot spots. ๐ก๏ธ
What happens if itโs broken
A weak seal or tired spring can cause coolant leaks, low system pressure, overheating, heater blowing cold, bubbling in the reservoir, and repeated top-ups. In worst cases, overheating can damage the head gasket. โ ๏ธ
