How it works ?️
The valve sits in the A/C refrigerant line near the evaporator. It reacts to pressure and temperature changes, opening or restricting flow to maintain correct evaporator load. When it meters correctly, the compressor runs smoothly, vent temperature stays consistent, and moisture removal improves.
If the valve fails ?
A stuck or leaking valve can cause weak cooling, icing on the evaporator, noisy compressor operation, or high/low side pressure readings that don’t make sense. In severe cases, liquid refrigerant may return to the compressor (slugging), leading to expensive compressor damage and metal debris through the system.
