Engine Start Switch (Push-Button Ignition) 🔑🚗
This ignition start switch is the driver’s main command to wake the vehicle’s electronics and request engine cranking. It’s needed on modern cars where a push-button replaces the old key barrel, giving fast starts and safer access control.
How it works ⚙️
When you press the button (with a valid smart key signal), the switch sends a clean electrical request to the body/engine control system. The module then powers ignition circuits, checks security authorization, and triggers the starter relay for cranking. A stable internal contact design helps prevent weak signals, intermittent starts, and random “no crank” situations.
If the switch is failing ❗
A worn or damaged unit may cause no response when pressed, delayed start, flickering dash lights, stuck ACC/ON modes, or intermittent starting. In some cases, the engine may not crank at all, leaving you stranded, or the car may not shut down cleanly—risking battery drain and fault codes.
