Steering Tie Rod End Assembly
This steering joint links the steering rack to the wheel hub so your front wheels follow every turn you make. Itβs a wear item because it works nonstop under road shock, braking force, and steering load.
Why this part is needed β
Your steering system needs a tight, adjustable connection to keep wheel alignment correct and steering response sharp. The ball-and-socket design lets the suspension move up and down while still transmitting steering movement smoothly.
How it works βοΈ
Inside the joint, a hardened ball pin rotates in a lubricated socket. When you turn the wheel, the rack pushes/pulls the rod, and the joint transfers that motion to the knuckle without binding. A protective boot keeps grease in and dirt/water out.
What happens if itβs broken β
A worn joint causes steering play, clunking over bumps, uneven tire wear, and drifting. If the joint separates, you can lose steering control at that wheelβdangerous at any speed.
