Engine Piston Ring Kit for Mitsubishi Diesel
This replacement ring kit is a critical internal engine service part used on Mitsubishi applications. It seals the gap between the piston and the cylinder wall, keeping combustion pressure where it belongs and controlling engine oil on every stroke .
Why this part is needed
Piston rings wear naturally from heat, friction, and soot. When clearances grow, the engine loses compression and starts pushing oil past the piston. A fresh ring set restores proper sealing and helps the engine run strong again β½.
How it works
Each ring has a specific job: the compression rings hold cylinder pressure during ignition, while the oil control ring scrapes excess oil back to the sump. The rings βfloatβ in their grooves and expand outward to follow the cylinder wall, creating a tight seal even under heavy load βοΈ.
What happens if rings are broken or worn
Expect hard starting, low power, blow-by from the breather, blue smoke, high oil use, and contaminated turbo/intercooler on boosted engines. Continued driving can score the cylinder, damage the piston, and lead to an expensive rebuild .
