Engine Piston Ring Set for Mitsubishi Diesel Applications

This piston sealing ring set is a key wear item inside the engine. It is needed to keep strong compression, control oil on the cylinder wall, and transfer heat from the piston to the cylinder liner. When these rings are in good shape, the engine starts easier, pulls harder, and stays cleaner .

How It Works

The set usually includes compression rings and an oil control ring. As the piston moves up and down, the rings expand slightly and press against the liner. This creates a tight seal so combustion pressure stays above the piston, while the oil ring scrapes excess oil back down to the sump. Correct ring tension also helps reduce blow-by gases .

Why Replacement Matters

Rings wear from heat, soot, and friction. Over time they lose tension, the gaps open up, and sealing quality drops. Replacing them during overhaul restores cylinder sealing and oil control, helping protect turbo, injectors, and aftertreatment systems.

Signs of a Broken or Worn Ring Set

  • Low compression, hard starting, weak power
  • Blue smoke and high oil consumption
  • Excess crankcase pressure / heavy breather fumes
  • Scored liner, piston damage, fast engine wear ⚠️
