Cooling System Pressure Cap for Mazda

This small cap is a big deal in your Mazda cooling system ?. It seals the radiator filler neck and keeps the system at the correct pressure so coolant can absorb heat and flow without boiling. Without the right seal and spring pressure, the engine can run hotter, lose coolant, and suffer damage over time.

Why this part is needed

The cooling circuit must hold pressure to raise the coolant boiling point. This cap also routes excess coolant to the overflow tank and pulls it back when the engine cools down, keeping the level stable.

How it works

Inside are a calibrated spring valve and rubber gaskets. When pressure rises past the rated limit, the valve opens to release coolant to the reservoir. As the system cools, a vacuum valve opens to return coolant, preventing hose collapse and air pockets.

What happens if it’s broken

A weak spring or cracked seal can cause overheating, coolant smell, leaks near the neck, frequent top-ups, bubbling in the reservoir, and poor heater performance. In severe cases, repeated overheating may warp the cylinder head or damage the head gasket ⚠️.
