Steering Angle Sensor Unit (SAS) ??

This sensor unit is a key part of modern stability and traction systems. It tells the vehicle computer exactly where the steering wheel is pointed and how fast it is being turned. Your ABS/ESC system needs this information to keep the car stable during sharp turns, slippery roads, or emergency maneuvers.

Why this part is needed ✅

Without accurate steering angle data, the control module cannot compare “driver intention” to actual vehicle movement. The result is reduced safety support from stability control, traction control, and sometimes even steering assist calibration.

How it works ⚙️

The unit reads steering wheel rotation through an internal position sensor and sends a clean signal to the ABS/ESC controller. The controller combines this with wheel speed and yaw rate data, then applies braking to individual wheels when needed to prevent skids.

What happens if it’s broken ?

A faulty unit can trigger ABS/traction/stability warning lights, cause erratic ESC activation, or disable stability functions completely. You may notice poor grip control in rain, incorrect steering-center reading, and stored fault codes that won’t clear until the sensor is repaired or replaced and calibrated.
