Why this part is needed

How it works βοΈ
A fixed pulley spins with the belt. When the coil receives 12V, it creates a magnetic field that pulls the armature plate against the pulley, locking them together and driving the compressor. When power cuts, the spring releases the plate and the compressor freewheels.
What happens when it fails
Symptoms include no cold air, intermittent cooling, squeal, burnt smell, visible sparks or dust at the pulley, and blown A/C fuses. Continued use can overheat the compressor, glaze the friction surface, snap the belt, or damage the pulley bearing.
