Flexible A/C Refrigerant Hose Line
This flexible air-conditioning hose is a key link between the A/C compressor, condenser, and evaporator. It’s needed because the engine moves on its mounts and the body vibrates—rigid pipes would crack. The hose absorbs motion while keeping the refrigerant sealed under high pressure and heat. ❄️?
How It Works
Inside, reinforced layers hold refrigerant pressure and carry compressor oil through the system. Crimped ends and O-ring seats keep the circuit tight so the refrigerant can change pressure and temperature properly, delivering cold air fast.
When It’s Failing
If the hose is cracked, porous, or the crimps leak, refrigerant escapes. Cooling becomes weak, the compressor may short-cycle, and the system can pull in moisture—leading to corrosion, noisy operation, and costly compressor damage. In severe leaks, A/C stops completely and oil loss accelerates wear.
Recommended Service Notes
Always inspect for oily residue, chafing marks, and hardened rubber. Replace sealing rings when installing, evacuate and recharge to spec for best performance. ✅
