This flexible steering hose is a key link between the power steering pump and the steering gear. How It Works ⚙️
The pump pushes fluid through the hose to build hydraulic pressure. Inside, a reinforced inner tube handles high PSI, while the outer layer protects against heat, oil mist, and road splash. The crimped ends and seals keep the system closed so pressure reaches the steering box/rack instantly when you turn the wheel.
When It Fails 🚨
A damaged hose may sweat fluid, balloon, or burst. Leaks cause whining noise, heavy steering (especially at low speed), foamy fluid, and pump overheating. If ignored, low fluid can ruin the pump, contaminate the system, and leave steering suddenly stiff—unsafe during parking or emergency maneuvers.
