Rear Door Gas Strut / Tailgate Balancer for compact 4x4

Why this part is needed ️

This back door lift support keeps the tailgate light to raise and stable to hold at full open. It prevents sudden drop, protects hinges and latch, and makes loading gear safe and easy. A healthy balancer also cuts rattles, saves interior trim, and keeps the body shell from stress during off-road use.

How it works

Inside the cylinder, compressed nitrogen and a metered oil path push the piston rod outward. The gas pressure counterbalances tailgate weight; internal valves add damping so the hatch opens and closes in a smooth, controlled motion. A hardened, chrome-coated rod and multi-lip seal keep pressure in and dirt out for long life across hot and cold weather.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Common signs: door drops in cold, won’t stay up, needs two hands to lift, oil film on tube, squeaks. Risks: sudden slam causing injury, cracked trim or glass, damaged wiring for rear wiper/defogger, bent hinges and striker. Driving with a weak damper also amplifies body vibrations and noise.
