Why this part is needed
This small ring keeps transmission oil where it belongs. It seals the gearbox’s input shaft, holding fluid pressure, blocking dust, and protecting bearings, synchros, and the clutch. A healthy seal means smooth shifting, quiet operation, and long gearbox life. Perfect for a preventive replacement during clutch or trans service.
How it works
The seal is press-fitted into the case and grips the rotating input shaft with a flexible lip and a garter spring. A thin oil film under the lip provides lubrication while the edge wipes the shaft. Heat‑resistant elastomer and precise lip geometry handle speed, temperature, and minor shaft runout, keeping the transmission dry and clean.
What happens if it’s worn or damaged ⚠️
Oil drops under the car, burnt oil smell, notchy shifts, gear whine, or a slipping clutch from oil contamination. Low fluid can overheat the gearbox and ruin bearings.
