Piston Ring Set for Nissan Engines οΈ
This piston ring kit is a core internal-engine service part that seals the space between the piston and cylinder wall. It is needed whenever you rebuild an engine, refresh compression, or fix oil burning. The rings ride in piston grooves, expanding slightly to maintain contact with the cylinder as the engine heats up and cools down.
How It Works βοΈ
The compression rings hold cylinder pressure during the power stroke, helping the engine make strong torque and stable idle. The oil control ring scrapes extra oil off the cylinder wall and returns it to the sump, keeping combustion clean and plugs dry. Correct ring tension also improves heat transfer from the piston into the cylinder, protecting pistons under load.
When Rings Are Worn or Broken
Damaged or stuck rings cause blow-by, low compression, hard starting, smoke from the exhaust, and high oil consumption. You may notice loss of power, oily spark plugs, fuel smell in the crankcase, and rising crankcase pressure that can push out seals. Left too long, it can score the cylinder walls and turn a simple refresh into a full machining job.
