    This small but critical washer set controls crankshaft end play (front-to-back movement) inside the engine. It is needed to keep the crankshaft centered while the clutch, torque converter, and oil pump loads push and pull on the rotating assembly.     The thrust washers sit at the main bearing thrust location and act as a low-friction surface.
