Why you need it

Slide pins are the caliper’s hinges. If they bind, one pad drags while the other barely works. Protective boots are a small part with a big job: they prevent corrosion, preserve lubrication, and keep braking force balanced on both sides .

How it works

Heat‑resistant EPDM boots flex with every pedal press, sealing each pin bore. They hold high‑temp brake grease around the pin, block dust and splash, and shed moisture so the pin stays smooth. Proper sealing keeps the caliper floating as designed.

If the boots are damaged ⚠️

Torn or hardened boots let in dirt and water. Pins rust and seize, causing pulling, uneven pad wear, brake squeal, hot smell, reduced fuel economy, longer stopping distance, and even warped rotors. You may see one wheel getting much dustier than the other.

Tech tips for install

Clean pin bores and pins, replace any pitted parts, and use a thin film of silicone or moly brake grease only (no petroleum). Seat boot lips fully into the caliper and bracket, then torque slide bolts to spec. Pump the pedal before driving ✅.
