Why you need it

How it works

Pulling the lever tenses the cable, rotating the actuator to spread the shoes against the inside of the drum (drum-in-hat rear rotor). Friction locks the wheel and holds the car in place.

What if it’s worn or broken

Expect weak hold, squeal, scraping, hot smell, uneven drag, and extended lever travel. In severe cases, rolling risk and damaged drums occur.

Fitment notes

Axle set for both rear sides. Adjust star wheel to slight drag, back off 6–8 clicks, then bed-in with several low-speed handbrake applications. Works with stock cables and drums.
