Left Parking Brake Adjuster Assembly for Suzuki SUVs

This left-side adjuster keeps your rear parking brake shoes correctly spaced inside the drum-in-hat rotor. It is needed to hold the vehicle firmly on slopes, shorten lever travel, and provide even shoe wear. A fresh adjuster restores crisp parking brake feel and helps protect the rotor hat from heat spots caused by dragging shoes.

How it works ⚙️

The unit uses a threaded star wheel and barrel. When you pull the handbrake, a lever and pawl index the star wheel, extending the adjuster to maintain the set clearance. The left version has specific thread direction and length to match the LH shoe geometry. Smooth threads and a true centerline keep force balanced, so both shoes contact evenly.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Symptoms include long lever travel, weak holding power, uneven braking, scraping noises, hot smell from the rear wheel, and tapered shoe wear. A seized or stripped adjuster can also cause dragging, warped rotor hats, and reduced fuel economy. Replace promptly to avoid collateral damage.

Tech tips ✅

Install on the left side only; set initial shoe gap, then fine-tune via the star wheel. Lightly grease the threads (high-temp) and ensure the pawl indexes cleanly. After bedding, recheck lever travel.
