This component is the heart of your hydraulic brake system. It turns your foot pressure on the pedal into stable fluid pressure, feeding the front and rear circuits so the vehicle stops straight and predictably. Without a healthy master cylinder, you lose consistent braking force. A tight-sealing unit preserves fluid integrity, pedal height, and response in daily driving and emergency stops.

How it works

When you press the pedal, a pushrod moves primary and secondary pistons. These pistons compress brake fluid, sending pressure through lines to calipers and wheel cylinders. Internal seals and return springs maintain pressure, then quickly release it for smooth recovery.

What happens if it’s bad

Spongy or sinking pedal, longer stopping distance, uneven braking, fluid leaks at the booster, and warning lights. In severe cases, it can lead to partial brake loss—unsafe to drive.

Install tips ⚙️

Bench-bleed before fitting, use fresh DOT-rated fluid, torque lines correctly, then bleed the system in sequence.
