Why you need it ⚙️

Clean, uninterrupted oil flow prevents wear, noise, and overheating. A fresh pickup strainer keeps sludge, RTV crumbs, and metal flakes out of the pump and galleries, protecting critical clearances and extending service intervals.

How it works

The assembly uses a shaped tube and a fine stainless mesh. Submerged in the sump, it screens the oil, prevents vortexing, and feeds the pump inlet. A tight O-ring seals the joint so the pump pulls oil—not air.

When it fails ⚠️

Clogging, cracked necks, or a hard O-ring cause aeration and starvation. Signs include low-pressure light at idle, chain rattle, lifter tick, harsh cold starts, and bearing scuffing. Ignoring it can lead to spun bearings and full rebuilds.

Tech notes ️

Clean the pan, replace the O-ring, torque to spec, check pickup-to-pan clearance, and prime the pump before first start.
