Why you need it

The oil pump must hold tight pressure to move lubricant through bearings, cams, and chains. These sealing rings close the pump housing and passages, stopping internal bypass and outside leaks. How it works

Each ring sits in a machined groove around the pump rotor and cover. Under pressure, the elastomer expands slightly and forms a flexible barrier.
