Timing Chain Tension Adjuster Assembly

This adjuster unit is a key part of the engine timing system. It is needed to keep the timing chain at the correct tension so the camshaft and crankshaft stay perfectly synchronized. When tension is stable, the engine runs smoother, starts easier, and keeps accurate valve timing under all RPM ranges.

How It Works ⚙️

The adjuster uses an internal spring and oil pressure assistance to push against the chain guide. As the chain wears and stretches naturally over time, the mechanism extends in small steps to remove slack. This prevents chain whip, reduces noise, and helps protect timing components from shock loads.

Why Replacing It Matters ✅

A weak or sticking adjuster can’t hold pressure, letting the chain rattle—especially on cold starts. If it fails completely, the chain may jump teeth, causing misfire, loss of power, rough idle, and in worst cases piston-to-valve contact.
