Engine Crankshaft Thrust Bearing Set ?️

This precision bearing set is needed to control crankshaft end play (front-to-back movement) inside the engine block. During clutch operation, gear changes, and normal combustion loads, the crankshaft is pushed and pulled slightly. The thrust surfaces in this set keep that movement within spec, protecting the crank, block, and oil film.

How It Works ⚙️

The thrust faces create a smooth, low-friction contact area while engine oil forms a protective layer. This lets the crankshaft rotate freely but stops it from “walking” sideways. Correct clearance keeps timing alignment stable and helps the oil pump and main bearings live longer.

What Happens If It’s Worn or Broken ?

Excess end play can cause clutch chatter, hard shifting (manual),abnormal crank sensor signals, and metallic rubbing sounds. In severe cases, the crank can score the block, damage main bearings, ruin the rear main seal, and lead to oil leaks or sudden engine failure. Replacing the set early prevents costly machining.
