This bearing set is needed when the crankshaft journal has been re-ground and requires an undersize bearing to restore correct oil clearance. Engine oil is fed into the bearing area and forms a thin pressure layer. That oil cushion prevents metal-to-metal contact, controls heat, and keeps the crankshaft and rod aligned under load. The 0.25 mm undersize helps match a machined journal for proper clearance and oil pressure.
