This sensor unit is needed to report real-time coolant temperature so your dashboard gauge (or display) can warn you before the engine gets too hot. It helps you drive safely, protects the head gasket, and keeps the cooling fan strategy working as intended.
How it works ⚙️
The sender uses a heat-sensitive element that changes electrical resistance as coolant temperature rises. That signal is sent to the gauge circuit, which converts it into a readable temperature indication. Installed in a coolant passage, it reads the true coolant condition—not just under-hood air heat.
Signs it’s failing & what happens if it’s broken
