Engine Coolant Temperature Sender for Mitsubishi engines
Keep the ECU informed and the fan honest. This precision thermal sender reads coolant heat and reports it to the control unit ?οΈ. Accurate data gives smooth starts, stable idle, correct fueling, and timely fan operation ?. Also known as an ECT sensor or coolant temp sensor.
Why this part is needed
- Manages cold-start enrichment and warm-up strategy.
- Triggers radiator fan and A/C cut-in to prevent overheating.
- Optimizes ignition timing, emissions, and fuel economy.
How it works
Inside the brass body is an NTC thermistor. As coolant warms, resistance drops. The ECU reads the voltage change and converts it to temperature. A sealed connector and crush washer ensure fast response and leak-free sealing ?.
When it fails
- Hard cold starts, rough idle, poor mpg.
- Radiator fan stuck on or never comes on.
- Rich mix, black smoke, misfire, or limp mode.
- Gauge shows wrong temp, Check Engine light (P0115βP0119).
- Coolant seepage around the sensor seat.
Tech notes
Install on a cold engine, fit a new sealing washer, torque about 20 Nm, then top up and bleed coolant. Do not use thread tape on the tip. If corrosion is present, clean the plug and check grounds. For best results, replace with the thermostat together. Fits many Mitsubishi petrol and diesel applications β .
