Power Steering Oil Pump Assembly ??
This hydraulic pump is the heart of the power steering system. It is needed to create steady oil pressure so the steering gear can assist your hands, especially during parking, tight turns, and low-speed driving. Without correct pressure, even a healthy steering rack will feel heavy and slow.
How It Works ⚙️
The pump is driven by the engine belt. Inside, a precision rotor/vanes (or similar hydraulic element) pulls fluid from the reservoir, compresses it, and sends it through high-pressure lines to the steering control valve. When you turn the wheel, the valve directs pressure to the correct side of the steering mechanism, giving smooth assist and quick return-to-center.
When the Pump Fails ❗
A worn or damaged unit can cause whining noise, foamy fluid, hard steering, jerky assist, or leaks at the shaft seal. If ignored, it may overheat the fluid, damage hoses, and accelerate wear in the steering rack. In severe cases, you can lose steering assist suddenly, making the vehicle difficult to control at low speed.
