Intake Plenum Air Surge Gasket for Mitsubishi SUVs ?

This precision seal sits between the intake surge tank (plenum) and the intake manifold. Its job is simple but critical: keep metered air inside the system so your engine breathes correctly. A healthy gasket means smooth idle, strong low‑end torque, stable fuel trims, and better fuel economy ?.

Why you need it

Heat cycles, vibration, and oil vapors harden and flatten old seals. When that happens, the joint can leak air, upsetting the air/fuel mix your ECU expects.

How it works

After air passes the MAF, it fills the surge tank. The gasket forms an airtight barrier so vacuum is maintained while cylinders draw air. Quality material resists heat and chemicals, preventing warping and seepage.

If the gasket fails ⚠️

Expect rough or high idle, hissing, hesitation, poor mpg, lean codes (P0171/P0174), misfires, and a glowing MIL. Prolonged leaks can overheat valves and stress the MAF and catalytic converter.

Replacement tips ✅

Clean mating faces, inspect studs, and torque the plenum evenly in sequence. Do not overuse sealant. Replace whenever the plenum is removed. After install, smoke‑test for leaks and clear trims for a quick relearn.
