Rear Lower Window Moulding Trim
This rear lower window moulding is a small but important exterior trim piece that sits along the lower edge of the rear side window area. Its main job is to guide water away, cover the window seam, and help keep wind noise and dust out of the body gap. A clean, tight trim line also protects the paint edge from rubbing and corrosion over time.
Why this part is needed
The lower window edge is exposed to rain, car washes, road salt, and vibration. This moulding acts like a shield, reducing moisture entry and preventing dirt from packing into the channel. It also supports proper window sealing by keeping the area stable and neatly finished.
How it works
The moulding locks into the body channel with clips/retainers and sits flush against the window line. Its shape directs runoff outward while covering the joint between glass, weather strip, and metal. When fitted correctly, it minimizes flutter at speed and keeps the window area looking factory-straight.
What happens if itβs broken
Cracked or loose trim can cause whistling noise, water streaks inside the channel, trapped debris, and early rust on the lower window edge. In bad cases it may rub the glass, snag during washing, or fall off completely, leaving the seam exposed.
