Rear Brake Caliper Seal Kit – purpose and benefits ️

This kit restores the sealing surfaces of the rear brake caliper, locking in hydraulic pressure and keeping dirt out. Fresh piston and pin boots stop brake fluid leaks, preserve firm pedal feel, and prevent uneven pad wear. Heat‑resistant EPDM components handle DOT 3/4 fluids and daily temperature swings, helping your SUV stop straight and confidently .

How it works

The square‑cut piston seal sits in the caliper bore. Under pedal pressure it lets the piston move outward; when you release, its elastic memory pulls the piston back slightly to create pad clearance. The external dust boot snaps into the caliper and piston grooves to block water and grit. Guide pin boots retain grease so the caliper β€œfloats” freely, keeping both pads engaged evenly.

If seals are worn or damaged ⚠️

Expect wet calipers, fluid loss, a spongy or sinking pedal, pulling to one side, hot wheels, glazing, and rapid or tapered pad wear. A sticking caliper can overheat the rotor, cause vibration, and lengthen stopping distances. In severe cases, sudden brake fade may occur due to fluid contamination or loss .

Install tips βœ…

Clean the bore and grooves thoroughly; never scratch sealing lands. Lubricate new parts with clean brake fluid or EPDM‑safe silicone greaseβ€”avoid petroleum products. Seat boots fully in their grooves, torque slide pins to spec, bleed the system, and verify dry, even operation after a short road test.
