Rear Drum Brake Shoe Adjuster – OE-Grade for Mitsubishi Pickups
This adjuster keeps the rear drum brakes at the correct clearance, giving firm pedal feel, stable stopping, and a strong parking brake. It prevents uneven shoe wear and protects the drum from heat spots—ideal for daily use, towing, and off-road.
Why you need it ️
Without a healthy adjuster, the gap between shoe and drum grows. Pedal travel increases, braking balance shifts, and parking brake performance drops. Correct clearance means consistent, safe braking.
How it works
A threaded spreader with a star wheel sits between the shoes. Each brake application (often in reverse with the hand-adjust lever) advances the wheel slightly, maintaining set clearance. During service, the wheel is preset to a slight drag, then it self-compensates as shoes wear.
What happens if it fails ⚠️
Soft/low pedal, longer stopping distance, pulling to one side, glazing, squeal, overheated drums, weak handbrake, and faster shoe/drum wear. In severe cases, ABS may trigger early and fade can occur.
Tech tips
Install left/right correctly, clean hardware, lightly grease threads with high-temp brake lube, set initial shoe drag, and bed in. Replace in pairs for best results.
