Steering Rack Boot (Rack-and-Pinion Bellows) for Mitsubishi

This flexible dust cover seals the steering gear and shields the inner tie rod from grit, water, and road salt. Made to OE-fit dimensions, the bellows keeps grease where it belongs and helps your steering stay light, quiet, and precise.

Why you need it ️

The boot protects the rack shaft and seals, blocks contamination, and prevents premature wear of the inner tie rod joint. It is a small, low-cost part that safeguards the entire steering system and helps maintain straight-line stability.

How it works

The accordion-shaped sleeve clamps to the rack housing and the inner tie rod. As you steer, it expands and compresses, allowing full movement while maintaining a sealed chamber. This keeps lubricant in and dirt out, and equalizes pressure to avoid pulling in moisture.

When the boot is broken ⚠️

Dust and water enter, corroding the rack shaft; grease escapes; the inner tie rod develops play and knocking. Steering may feel heavy or notchy, alignment drifts, and fluid can leak on power-steering systemsβ€”often leading to costly rack replacement.

Replacement tips ✨

Change in pairs, use new clamps, inspect inner tie rod and rack seals, and set toe with a wheel alignment after installation.
