Power Steering Oil Pump Assembly ??

This pump is the heart of the hydraulic power steering system. It is needed to create steady oil pressure so the steering wheel feels light and controlled, especially during parking and low-speed turns. Without the correct pressure, the steering becomes heavy and unpredictable.

How It Works ⚙️

Driven by the engine, the internal vanes/rotor pull power steering fluid from the reservoir, compress it, and send it through the high-pressure line to the steering gear. A built-in flow/pressure control valve helps keep assist consistent as engine speed changes, preventing overpressure and foaming.

When This Part Fails ❗

A worn or damaged unit may cause whining noises, jerky assist, fluid leaks, or stiff steering. If ignored, low pressure and heat can contaminate the fluid, damage hoses and seals, and accelerate wear inside the steering rack—turning a simple repair into a costly system rebuild.

Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore ?

  • Groaning/whining when turning
  • Steering gets heavy at idle
  • Visible fluid seepage around the pump
  • Bubbles or burnt smell in fluid
