Glove Compartment Latch Assembly for Mitsubishi SUVs

This glovebox locking latch is a direct-fit replacement engineered to factory specs for select Mitsubishi SUVs. Built with reinforced polymer housing and a metal cam, it restores smooth open/close action and secure locking. OEM reference: MR402499. Ideal for owners who want original feel, no rattles, and dependable security for documents and small tools .

Why this part is needed

It keeps the glovebox closed on rough roads, prevents unwanted opening, protects contents from theft when locked, and eliminates annoying cabin noises. A healthy latch also reduces stress on the glovebox door and hinges.

How it works ️

Pressing the button moves an internal cam that retracts the hook from the striker. A return spring pushes the hook back to latch when the door is closed. Turning the key engages the lock cylinder, blocking the button so the door cannot open.

What happens if it’s broken ⚠️

Common faults include a stuck button, cracked housing, weak spring, or worn hook. Symptoms: the door will not latch, pops open while driving, rattles, or will not lock. Contents can spill, hinges may wear faster, and driver distraction can increase. Replacement is quick: remove the trim/liner, swap the latch (transfer the cylinder if required), and align the striker—typically a 10–15 minute job with a Phillips screwdriver.
