Upper Front Suspension Spring Seat — OE ref MR297936

This upper spring seat supports the top end of the front coil spring in a MacPherson strut. It locks the spring in place, sets ride height, and isolates noise and vibration. With a healthy seat, your Mitsubishi steers straight, stays quiet over bumps, and preserves tire life .

Why you need it

It keeps the coil properly located and cushioned against the strut mount. That protects the mount bearing, maintains alignment angles, and prevents metal-to-metal contact. It’s a small part with a big role in comfort and control.

How it works

A pressed-steel cup with a molded rubber isolator sits between the spring and the top mount. It centers the spring’s pigtail, spreads load into the tower, and allows smooth rotation as you steer, working with the upper bearing ️.

What happens if it’s broken

Expect clunks and creaks on turns or bumps, harshness, steering bind, uneven tire wear, and a sagging front corner. Prolonged failure can deform the mount, damage the bearing, or chip the spring ⚠️. Replace in pairs, align the coil end to the stop, torque to spec, and inspect the mount, bearing, boot, and bump stop .
