Front Lower Ball Joint Assembly for Mitsubishi 4x4
This heavyβduty joint connects the lower control arm to the steering knuckle. It carries vehicle weight, lets the wheel turn smoothly, and keeps alignment true. A hardened stud runs inside a greased socket, protected by a rubber boot. The tapered pin locks into the knuckle; a castle nut and cotter pin secure it. Built for tough roads and towing, it restores tight steering and safe handling.
Why you need it
Wear creates play between stud and socket. That play causes clunks, steering wobble, and uneven tire wear. Replacing the joint brings back precise steering, stable braking, and even tire contact.
How it works
The spherical stud pivots as suspension moves up/down and as you steer left/right. The boot keeps grease in and dirt out, reducing friction and heat. Proper preload prevents shimmy.
When it fails β οΈ
Signs include knocking over bumps, shimmy at speed, wandering, tire feathering, and a metallic creak when turning. In severe cases the stud can separate, the wheel can tuck out, and steering control is lostβstop driving and tow. Always replace in pairs and align after install.
