This electric unit keeps the turbo-diesel intake charge cool when road speed is low. Why you need it
Without forced airflow across the intercooler at idle and crawl, heat-soak raises intake temperature. That cuts power, adds smoke, and stresses the engine under towing. A healthy motor restores crisp response and protects the drivetrain.
How it works
A sealed 12V DC motor with high-temp bearings and a balanced rotor spins the shrouded fan. The ECU, via a relay, commands it from intake-air temperature and speed signals. It pulls cool air through the core, stabilizing charge temps for reliable performance.
If it fails
Symptoms include weak or no fan, rough or noisy spin, blown fuses, or burnt smell. Expect hot intake air, drop in power, higher fuel use, smoky acceleration, and possible limp mode with fan-circuit codes. Prolonged overheating can age hoses and strain the turbo.
