    Rear Axle Snap Ring — OE Ref MR162662 ️

    This OE-grade rear axle retainer is the small but critical part that locks the axle shaft in the differential side gear on many popular 4x4s and vans. Made from hardened spring steel, it holds end-play in check, keeps the wheel bearing preloaded, and positions the oil seal correctly. Without it, the axle can drift, causing leaks and premature wear.

    Why you need it ✅

    It stops axial movement of the shaft, protects the bearing and seal, maintains brake/ABS alignment, and preserves quiet, smooth driveline operation.

    How it works

    The ring expands over the shaft and snaps into a machined groove. Its shoulder bears against the side gear, resisting cornering and towing loads. Install with snap-ring pliers; always inspect the groove and lightly oil before fitment.

    If it fails or wears ⚠️

    Expect clunks, wheel wobble, diff oil at the backing plate, ABS alerts, metal in the oil—and in severe cases, axle walkout. Replace at any bearing/seal service or whenever removed.
