Manual gearbox rear bearing retainer

Keep your manual transmission tight, quiet, and aligned βœ…. This precision retainer locks the rear bearing of the output/main shaft inside the case. It holds the bearing outer race firmly, maintains correct end play, and prevents axial movement that causes noise and wear. The result: smoother shifts, stable torque flow, and longer gearbox life βš™οΈ.

Why you need it

Without a solid bearing holder, the bearing can β€œwalk” in the case, upsetting shaft alignment. That leads to whining, vibration, shifter buzz, difficult gear engagement, and fluid leaks. Over time it accelerates wear on gears, synchros, and seals.

How it works

A hardened, machined steel plate/ring bolts to the rear housing and clamps the bearing in place. It preserves preload/end float, keeps the shaft centered, and protects the case from spinning races. OEM-spec geometry ensures concentricity and oil control ️.

If it’s damaged or loose

Expect clunks on take-off, rumble on decel, play at the prop shaft, oil seep at the rear cover, and metal glitter on the drain plug ⚠️. Ignoring it can oval the case bore, destroy the bearing, and even pop the transmission out of gear.

Install notes

Clean mating faces, inspect the bearing, set end play to spec, use fresh gasket/RTV, torque bolts in a cross pattern with threadlocker, and refill with correct oil .
