Crank Balance Drive Sprocket ⚙️

Keep your Mitsubishi four‑cylinder smooth and quiet. This precision gear (ref MN183895) drives the balance shaft and oil pump module from the crankshaft, cutting harsh second‑order vibration and protecting bearings on every ride .

Why you need it

When the original gear wears, engine shake grows, cabin buzz appears, and chain noise starts. Replacing it restores correct phase, reduces stress on the chain, guides, and tensioner, and keeps oil pressure stable.

How it works

Mounted on the crank nose, the hardened steel teeth engage the balance chain. Exact tooth count keeps the module in time with the crank. It runs in an oil bath behind the timing cover; the tensioner holds the chain tight to transmit torque efficiently.

If it’s damaged

Expect rough idle, vibration at 1800–2500 rpm, cold‑start rattle, metal dust in oil, or chain jump. Severe wear can drop oil pressure and lead to bearing or timing failure ❗

Tech notes

Check teeth for pitting or hooking and hub/keyway for play. Replace with a new chain and tensioner, align timing marks exactly, torque to spec, and verify oil pump indexing ️
