Engine oxygen sensor (OEM MN158670) for Mitsubishi SUVs ⚙️

Why you need it

This O2 (lambda) sensor constantly reads oxygen in the exhaust and tells the ECU if the mix is rich or lean. With accurate feedback, the engine hits the ideal 14.7:1 air‑fuel ratio, saving fuel ⛽, keeping throttle response smooth, and protecting the catalytic converter . It also stabilizes cold starts and helps your vehicle pass emissions.

How it works

A zirconia ceramic element sits in the exhaust stream and generates a 0.1–0.9 V signal as oxygen levels change. An internal heater brings it up to temperature quickly so closed‑loop control starts fast. The ECU reads the rapid switching and trims injector pulse width in real time for clean, efficient combustion.

What happens if it’s broken

Expect a Check Engine Light, codes like P0130–P0161, rough idle, hesitation, poor power, high fuel use, fuel/sulfur smell, black soot, and failed emissions. Driving long with a faulty sensor can overheat and clog the catalyst, foul spark plugs, and raise repair costs. When replacing, use the correct connector, avoid touching the sensing tip, apply anti‑seize to threads only, and tighten to manufacturer spec .
