Front Lower Control Arm Mounting Bolt (Suspension)

This front suspension fastener locks the lower control arm to the chassis bracket with the correct clamp force. It is needed to keep wheel alignment stable, reduce vibration, and let the suspension move smoothly over bumps .

How It Works

The bolt passes through the control arm bushing sleeve and mounting tabs, then tightens to a specified torque. This creates a solid, centered pivot point so the bushing can twist as the arm travels up and down, while the arm itself stays firmly located.

When It’s Worn or Broken

If this bolt is loose, stretched, corroded, or snapped, the control arm can shift under braking and cornering. You may notice clunks, wandering steering, uneven tire wear, or a pull to one side. In severe cases the arm can move out of position, causing unsafe handling and rapid damage to bushings and tires ⚠️.

Technician Tip

Always torque to spec and recheck after suspension work; don’t reuse heavily rusted or over-stretched hardware.
