Timing Belt Tensioner Arm β€” OEM ref MN119896

This precision lever keeps the timing belt at the correct load so cams and crank stay perfectly synced. It works with the hydraulic piston and idler pulley to maintain steady tension across temperature changes, vibration, and belt stretch. Built from hardened steel with a precise pivot, it resists wear and prevents belt flutter at high RPM.

Why you need it βš™οΈ

A stable belt is vital for valve timing, smooth idle, fuel economy, and emissions. The arm ensures the tensioner’s force is applied in the right angle and position, protecting the belt and pulleys for long service life.

How it works ⏱️

The hydraulic unit pushes on the arm; the arm transfers that force to the idler, holding the belt tight. The geometry compensates for belt stretch and engine movement, keeping timing accurate under load.

What happens if it fails

Noise (chirp/slap), wandering belt, poor performance, misfire. In interference engines, a jump of a few teeth can bend valves or damage pistons. Replace the arm with the belt, idler, and tensioner for best results.

Install notes

Always torque the pivot bolt, align the pointer, and pin the hydraulic unit during setup. Rotate engine by hand two turns and recheck marks.
