This precision sleeve links the main shaft to 5th gear in the manual gearbox. It slides over the hub and dog teeth to lock 5th gear when you shift, working with the synchro rings to match speeds for a smooth, quiet engagement. Why you need it ?️

Worn splines or deformed shift windows cause hard shifting and grinding into 5th. Replacing this sleeve restores clean upshifts, lowers engine RPM at speed, reduces noise, and helps fuel economy. It is the core of reliable overdrive operation in your Mitsubishi pickup/SUV gearbox.

How it works ?

The selector fork moves the sleeve across the hub. The synchro ring slows the gear, then the sleeve’s teeth mesh with the gear’s dog ring, locking 5th to the main shaft. Proper chamfers and clearances ensure fast, positive engagement.

Expect grinding, pop-out of 5th, no drive in 5th, metal shavings contaminating oil, faster bearing wear, heat, and costly gear damage. Shift effort rises and cruising becomes noisy and inefficient.
