Rear Leaf Spring Shackle for Mitsubishi Pickup ??
This rear suspension shackle is a key link between the rear leaf spring and the chassis bracket. It is needed to let the leaf spring change length while the axle moves up and down over bumps. Without this small hinged part, the suspension cannot flex correctly, and ride comfort plus load control will suffer.
How It Works
The shackle acts like a swinging joint. When the leaf spring compresses, it βgrowsβ slightly in length; the shackle pivots to absorb that movement. This keeps the spring aligned, maintains correct axle position, and reduces stress on spring eyes and mounting bolts. A good shackle also helps keep the truck stable during braking and when carrying cargo.
Signs of Wear or Failure
If the shackle is bent, cracked, or the bushings are worn, you may hear clunks, feel rear-end sway, or notice uneven tire wear. In serious cases the rear ride height can drop, alignment shifts under load, and the leaf spring eye can be damaged. Driving with a failed shackle can lead to unsafe handling and extra repair cost.
