Parking brake lever assembly for Mitsubishi pickups ?
Restore safe, confident stopping on slopes with a fresh handbrake lever. This cabin-mounted unit gives a solid, positive click and steady cable tension, bringing your truck’s parking brake back to OEM feel and reliability.
Why you need it ?️
Essential for hill parking, towing, and loading, it locks the vehicle without stressing the transmission. A crisp lever also helps pass safety inspections and prevents premature drivetrain wear.
How it works ?
Pulling the handle rotates a steel sector; a pawl locks the ratchet teeth. The lever multiplies force and tensions the rear cable(s) via an equalizer, applying drum shoes or the caliper’s parking mechanism. Pressing the button lifts the pawl to release. A return spring resets travel, and an internal switch controls the dash warning lamp.
If it’s worn or broken ⚠️
Signs include long travel, weak holding power, popping release, sloppy pivot, or a warning light that stays on/off. Risks: vehicle roll-away, hot brakes from partial drag, uneven rear wear, and inspection failure. Worn ratchet teeth or bushings are common culprits.
Install notes
Direct bolt-in. Reuse trim/boot, lightly lube the pivot, then adjust cable free play and equalize left/right. Inspect rear shoes/calipers and replace frayed cables for best results. Built to OEM geometry with corrosion protection for long life ✅
